Texas Department of Transportation | Austin, TX                                     2019 – Present

 

  • Helped build a knowledge management program for the Right of Way Department. This consisted of finding knowledge gaps in the department and creating ways to transfer knowledge successfully.

  • Constructed a wiki within SharePoint to support the knowledge management program.

  • Conducted a department wide survey on knowledge around best ways TxDOT employees learn new processes and where gaps may be within each section.

  • Developed and updated standard operating procedures for the Operations Section within TxDOT.

  • Continued the process of maintaining records for the Right of Way Department.

 

Texas Department of Transportation | Austin, TX                                       Summer 2019

Summer Internship with the Right of Way Department, Records Coordinator

 

  • Processing closed TxDOT projects and ensuring that records are stored according to specific retention schedules and departmental policies.

  • Learning the process of transferring paper documents into a digital database (OnBase) as TxDOT is moving to become paperless in the near future.

  • Working on special projects concerning maps, 100+ year old railroad documents, and physical photos to digitize them, archive, and process them accordingly.

  • Researching an expired database (D-15R), with the collaboration of the finance department, to gather knowledge and create a job aide to navigate this database.

  • Adhere to policies concerning the lifecycle of a document generated within the university ensuring it is stored properly or destroyed if necessary.
